The Toledo Celtics have always welcomed players from every walk of life — college students, business professionals, teachers, clergy, doctors, military veterans, factory workers, steel men, firefighters, and yes, a few local miscreants. Rugby is a game for everyone, regardless of age, athletic ability, or prior experience, and our Division 4 side has traditionally been the best entry point for new players.

The D4 team is designed for those with little or no rugby experience to learn the game, develop their skills, and enjoy the camaraderie of the sport at a pace that fits. Whether through developmental matches, sevens, or tens, this side provides valuable minutes and exposure to the sport, helping turn rookies into seasoned Celtics.

Right now, we don’t have the numbers to consistently field a full D4 side — but this makes recruiting new players more important than ever. Strong numbers mean we can bring D4 back to life, giving every new player a clear path into the game and strengthening the depth of our competitive D3 squad.
